How to Apply

How to apply to the Student Allowance Appeal Authority.

You have 21 days from the date of the decision you are appealing against to lodge an appeal with the Student Allowance Appeal Authority. If you wish to bring an appeal after this time you must get permission from the Authority. You will have to explain the reasons for the delay.

Apply in writing

Your application must be in writing. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Fill out a Notice of Appeal (PDF, 269Kb)
  2. Write a letter or send an email to the Authority with the following information:
    • your name and address
    • your Work and Income client number
    • the date of the decision you are appealing
    • why you disagree with the decision.
