Law Related Education Kits
The Ministry's law related education kits contain training sessions, information and resources on specific areas of law. They are intended primarily as training resources for use by organisations that provide information, advice or support in these areas. The Ministry's law related education kits include;
Domestic Violence and Harassment Law Related Education Kit
The Domestic Violence and Harassment Kit provides a practical, user-friendly approach for training on the Domestic Violence and Harassment Acts. The kit includes;
- Trainer’s plan and tips for delivering to a range of audiences
- Training modules
- Powerpoint presentation on CD
- Case studies
- Course handout master copies (for copying)
- Revision exercises
- References including contact list, further resource material.

The Law and Mental Health Law Related Education Kit
The Law and Mental Health Kit contains material for education seminars on the Mental Health Act and six other areas of law that can have an impact on a person experiencing mental illness. It is designed for community groups that provide mental health information and support. The seven areas of law covered by the kit are;
- Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights
- Mental Health (CAT) Act 1992
- Privacy and your health info (Privacy Act 1993 & Health Information Privacy Code 1994)
- Discrimination and human rights (Human Rights Act 1993 & Bill of Rights)
- Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988
- Care and welfare of children (Care of Children Act 2004 & Children, Young Persons and Their Families Act 1989)

Treaty of Waitangi DVD
Journeys:Ngā Tapuae is the Ministry's Treaty of Waitangi DVD. This resource covers;
- Nga Tohu: Signatures (51 mins) – a drama that switches between 1839/40 with information on why the Treaty was signed, and a present day situation that looks at the Treaty’s current legal status in NZ and how a land claim can arise.
- Te Reo o Te Tiriti Mai Ra Ano: Voices of the Treaty (30 mins) – Archival footage and some drama is used to show recent Treaty of Waitangi claims including the Sealord deal, and Tainui and Ngai Tahu settlements.
- Te Raukura: The North Taranaki Claim (21 mins) – Explains some of the issues to do with this claim and the Treaty settlement process up to August 1999. The outcome of negotiations up to 2007 is summarised in text.
